OpenX Sponsors New Big Data Speaker Series and User Group

FOR LOS ANGELES TECHNOLOGY COMMUNITY

Former Yahoo! VP Hadoop Software Engineering Eric Baldeschwieler to Kick Off Pasadena Big Data User Group Series on September 25th

OpenX Technologies, Inc. (OpenX) is sponsoring a monthly speaker series and new user group – Pasadena Big Data User Group – that will bring together the industry leaders who are defining and shaping the evolution of the Big Data industry. The purpose of the new speaker series is to promote the Big Data industry in Los Angeles by providing a forum for training, education, networking and ongoing assessment of the needs of the local technology community.

Big data is an important focus for OpenX, a leading provider of programmatic advertising technology that processes hundreds of billion events of ads requests and Real-Time Bidding daily. Since OpenX benefits from big data technologies, the Company has decided to give back to the community by sponsoring the Pasadena Big Data User Group. The goal of the Pasadena Big Data User Group is to work with big data institutions such as Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, local tech companies, local universities, and schools to make big data more accessible to everyone and to rapidly accelerate learning about it.

The new speaker series meets a significant regional demand for a forum around opportunities and innovation in Big Data. With Los Angeles’s burgeoning technology ecosystem and the increasing number of industries, such as digital advertising and multi-channel networks, that leverage Big Data technologies, there’s a growing need to bolster the local community.

The series will kick off with a presentation by one of the industry’s foremost Hadoop experts, Eric Baldeschwieler, the founding CEO and later CTO of Hortonworks and Yahoo!’s former VP of Hadoop Software Engineering. The event is open to all Big Data enthusiasts. To register, visit http://www.meetup.com/Pasadena-Big-Data-Users-Group/events/
