Jonathan Miller & Re-branding

Leading Ad Server Openads re-brands to OpenX as it expands suite of services

LONDON, February 19, 2008 OpenX (www.openx.org), the developer of the free, open source adserver now used by more than 30,000 publishers in over 100 countries around the world, announced today the appointment of former AOL Chairman & CEO Jonathan Miller to the position of Chairman of the Board. Miller was primarily responsible for successfully shifting AOL’s internet business from a walled garden to an advertising-supported model with free, open access to great features and content. He brings to OpenX a keen understanding of the global publisher and advertising marketplaces and an impressive track record of strategic leadership. Miller joins the board of OpenX on the heels of its $15.5 million Series B fundraising round led by Accel Partners.

“Jon brings to OpenX deep and unique expertise of building media and online companies on a worldwide scale,” said James Bilefield, CEO of OpenX. “His strategic guidance will be invaluable as we build OpenX into a leading, global publisher platform and an internationally recognized brand.”

“OpenX has a publisher-centered, open source vision that is truly refreshing,” said Jonathan Miller. “In a fast-consolidating online advertising market, they are uniquely focused on enabling publishers to take control of their ad inventory and maximize returns. I am impressed with the global publisher footprint, exciting product plans and strong team, and look forward to help guiding the company’s success.

“Miller will be instrumental in transitioning Openads into OpenX – the recently launched brand, which reflects the company’s growing global footprint and expanding suite of services. In addition to the company’s open source downloadable software, OpenX recently launched the beta version of a hosted solution, providing its customers with a more intuitive product, while maintaining its commitment to open source.

“Our publishers have been requesting a hosted solution for some time now. We responded, and the initial feedback has been great” said Scott Switzer, co-founder of OpenX. “The re-branding to OpenX reflects that commitment to identify and respond to our customers’ needs. While OpenX will stay committed to its core business of ad serving, it will expand its services to meet the evolving needs of our publishers and help them make more money online.”
