Manager accounts

Manager accounts allow discrete collections of advertisers/websites to be independently managed within OpenX.

Overview

A default manager account is automatically created for all administrators. Advertisers and websites created under this manager account are not visible to other manager accounts.

You can set up as many manager accounts as you like, for example if you have an advertiser or publisher who wants to traffic all of their own campaigns and zones. You can create a manager account for them, which will allow them to run OpenX as if it were their own setup.

Note: If you want to link a banner from an advertiser belonging to one manager account to a zone in another manager's account, you should treat this transaction as if the two manager accounts are on two separate servers:

  • Create a tag from the source manager account and load it as an HTML banner in the destination manager account.
  • In order to track clicks, make sure that you check the Alter HTML to enable tracking of AdClicks checkbox, and select Rich Media - OpenX from the associated dropdown.

Account Management

Only administrators are able to edit manager accounts. Go to Inventory > Admin Access to add or remove counts, and to select which permissions to assign them:

Adding a new manager account

Make sure you are working as an administrator. Go to Inventory > Account Management and select Add new account from the Actions box in the top right-hand corner of the screen. On the Add new account screen you then enter your new user's details:

When you have entered all the necessary information click Save Changes to return to the Account Management screen.

Once you have created a new account, the next step is to create a user account to link to it. To do this:

  • Click on the name of the new account.
  • Select the User Access tab.
  • Select Add user from the Action box in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
  • Enter the desired username.
  • You will then be asked to provide the user's details (password, email, etc.) in the User Access screen: !OpenX - User Properties_1225368375738.png!When you have provided the required information click Add User. You will be returned to the User Access screen.
